I was not recommended to go to Lei.medical uni. As advised, you can hardly pass your sem 5 exam. esp. for the international students e.g the transferred student twinned from IMU. Recently, not even half of those going passed. Scary………….., It is not becos these students are not smart, the uni. does not allow you to pass. just becos of no reason.
Hi Ivanna (if assume this is your name),
Sorry to reply this late. Sadly to say, all the rumour or news that you heard is true. Me myself are from IMU and I did not pass the Phase 1 exam in the first attempt and have to sit for the Qualifier exam, and luckily enough I passed. I’m from M2 batch and I had to wait for 9 months before coming to Leicester, and we had only 3 months to prepare for the Phase 1 exam. It’s true that it’s not because IMU students are not smart, but it’s more on the exam style, technique and marking system of the exam. On top of that, Phase 1 exam include almost everything that Leicester student had learned from their first year until the Phase 1.
Yes, we have learned all the same thing but here they have difference emphasize and look things differently. What I meant by that is, in IMU we learned almost everything about pathology from macroscopic to microscopic aspect of a disease, while here in Leicester, emphasize are more in basic sciences and application of knowledge. Apart from that, they still emphasize on Public Health issues i.e epidemiology, statistic etc that we already learned in semester 1 and semester 5 in IMU. In this regards, I personally think we didn’t get enough exposure in IMU, and that what my friend’s and I stuggle the most in preparing for the exams.
I’m more then happy to give more details if that will help especially if you are coming to Leicester this September. You can contact me on my email, mnaufalmnoor@gmail.com. Hopefully my reply does help in clearing things up, and if it doesn’t or you still have more burning issues to discuss, feel free to email me.
Kind regards,
